What is the form of light energy?

well, light energy, at a microscopic level appears as bands of emitted energy and they,,,shine I guess. The particles are smaller than the photons, just to give you an idea, but when the combine they appear as the light we know today ( : ) ) and i wouldnt say that they propagate, but they emit waves of course.
