Why is sex so special?

People say that sex should be held off and is a big BIG deal. But why,I ask. I mean people have chastised, told, and warned me about sex. But I have not been told why, lets ignore the sicknesses and the chance of pregnancy, but why should I wait foe the special person. Also just to make things clear, no I'm not jumping into bed with any guy I see.
