What is God's reaction to cowardice...does He fervently rebuke and chastise cowards? Or does He...?

He seems to require cowardice. Numerous times he orders his people to slaughter men, women, and CHILDREN. Good people would refuse that, but he'd punish them if they did. So it seems he values cowardice in his followers.
