How to make a friendship bracelet?

K so I've been. Trying to make friendship bracelets that say Reilly and another that says Hannah. Every time I try. The knots slant and the letters go all funny I've drawn out a pattern and it still won't work. Don't tell me to go to heathers friendship bracelets cuz I've been there already.how do I make them right???
